Malcolm X Dedication in Washington DC

Washington, D.C.'s Malcolm X Elementary School was originally built in the early 1960s. I grew up in Ward 8 and attended elementary school nearby at Washington Highland Elementary school [now closed] up to the 6th grade.

Malcolm X and Highland were one of many neighborhood schools East of the Anacostia in the 1970s - 1980s. However, Malcolm X is one of the few neighborhood schools still standing. The newly renovated campus is stunning. I'll be sure to visit.
