Morphological Confetti

If you are from or live in the United States, I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. My family and I drove to Atlanta, Georgia to be with family. I also had a chance to make a few connections and catch up with a couple of college friends. It was wonderful, but the drive back was exhausting. I just thank God that I am back in one piece. So, will you be celebrating the upcoming holiday season? If so, how do you celebrate? I realize this depends on what country you are from or live. Please share your culture and customs with us. Note: As for Christmas, spend more with family and loved ones than on presents. Our time and love is the most precious gift. Peace~

Gordon Roger Alexander Buchanan Parks (November 30, 1912 – March 7, 2006) was an American photographer , musician, poet, journalist, activist and film director. This was a great man – he was a self-taught photographer, and a preservationist of African American Life. He encompassed everything I feel about art and expression. Did you know that Langston Hughes had a short stay in Washington, D.C. before he became a famous poet in Harlem, NY? Langston arrived in Washington, DC in November of 1924, and stayed until January 1926. He got a job as a Busboy at the Wardman Park Hotel (Now Marriott) in N.W. Washington. Why DC? As some of you know, DC had a thriving Black community at the turn of the 20th Century. Some of that still exist today, but it is slowly disappearing with growing cost of real estate in cities like Washington, Harlem, and Chicago. Wardman Park Marriott Langston Hughes writes, "I have a new job at a hotel. . . . The place I work is quite classy. There are European waiters and it caters largely to ambassadors and base-ball players and ladies who wear diamonds." Sources: prorev.com and porg.org

I just wanted to let you guys know that I recently put together another blog journal on Wordpress. The name of the blog is, Baba Notes . The word Baba is a Zulu, Swahili, and Hindi word that means "father." Baba Notes will be a place where I can write notes to the Father (God). It will be my sanctuary and prayer closet. I realize that not everyone who reads my blog is Christian, but all are welcomed. You can read and/or leave your comments anytime. As always, thanks for your support and God bless you. Hollywood Actor, producer, and director Charles "Roc" Dutton will be honored at the 3rd annual Top 100 MBE Award ceremony. Mr. Dutton, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, has an illustrious career as an actor that continues to grow strong. His recent role was as Willie 'Pops' Davis in, The Express: The Ernie Davis Story .
