I ahve voted all of my adult life. I even had the honor of voting ofr myself. But today...today was the sweetest on so many levels.

All very personal and very profound. In many states mostly southern states, felons are not allowed to vote...they lose that right if they go to jail and don't get it back in some states. I live in CT where felons can vote. Even if they are on probation.

I voted. I felt connected.

A friend has just sent me these few words, and they embody my sentiment of hope. She said, "bravo les américains, il a fallu du temps, mais ils ont compris."

Bravo, Americans, it took time, but they've understood.

She's right. Congratulations to you, to Americans in general, and indeed to the world.

What an amazing day! It really is here and I'm so frickin' excited! Every time I think of it, I get all emotional! We did it! Well OK I didn't because I can't vote, but you know what I mean. Congratulations! This is *his-tory*!

Happy, happy, happy!

Huge relief to me, now we've just got to get through our own general election this Saturday.

Funnily here blue is the colour of the right wing(conservative type party), the left (labour) have red.

Sending care and great big smiles. Michelle and Zebby-cat

Stephen,
I'm only sorry I could not vote for Barak Obama.

But the numbers tells more than what they represent.
If 70% of europeans would have voted for him if they even could, this tells you EVERYTHING about the world and the Western nations.
This means at last a new dialogue between people.
This means we are all united to face problems.

This means that a new future is possible!

As you can remember, in avril I came to your blog, complaining about the silly election of Silvio Berlusconi in my country.
I hoped for a different result about the elections in U.S.A.

Well, this is good news for our country too! 'Cause Berlusconi will have to deal with Obama and I hope this will bring better time.

There are wars to deal with.
There is crisis to solve.
There are awesome problems with environment and production.
But now there's time to work for change.

I hope this will be understood in Italy too... ;)

Anyway, America is again the torch that inspires the other nations.
And this is the best thing.

It's United States of the World today.

Many, many, many felicitations for you and all the people in your country

Words could never express what I feel in my heart and soul, right now. I'm still pinching myself after the most powerful experience in my lifetime. I voted and it count!

"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek." ~Barack Obama

Change is here. Change was needed. Change is happening. There is much more hope for our future than there has been for many years... I am proud to have been a part of that vote. I am proud that there were so many of us out there making the change. I am proud there were SO MANY FIRST TIME VOTERS! We all need to exercise our freedoms that make our country so great. And now with Obama at the helm, our country will become great once again! Although it is too bad his Grandma did not survive to be with him on this historic day, but you know she is still with him celebrating!

To All-
Yes, this has been an amazing couple of days. Very emotional. Pres. Elect Obama even quoted Sam Cooke when he said, "A change is gonna come." We need to continue with all of the work we started. That change cannot and will not happen unless we continue to stay actively involved. I'm preaching to myself. Join in. Peace~
