Ingenuity wasted. A young father taken from wife and children. His killers have never been punished, although they're known.
Oh Stephen! This is incredible. I've just come from one of the many blgo micro-circuits where evryone is talking about coincidences & déjá vu. Well, coming in to you right now has freaked me. Read up:
When I came by earlier and saw/read your previous post, although there wasn't the slightest conection Biko came clearly into my mind! I've heard or read nothing about him for quite a while, but that thought led straight to an old friend of mine who worked on editing the movie. Too weird. I want to go read Rethabile's tribute now. So many that walk on a higher plane in life that they have to be brought down. But when in death they won't go away, the killers and their paymasters always lose out even more, they only succeed in elevating them higher. The people's judge knows the true criminals. Peace!
Thank you for the reminder - may God bless his family and may the work he started be fruitful
Stephen, can I ask you to play host to my comment to Rethabile please? There's something in his blog that just keeps preventing me from leaving anything there, pity.
Rethabile, I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciated your great tribute, a truly wonderful piece. I still remember hearing the news of his 'death' in London, which was way before P. Gabriel sang his name to millions. I too had wondered about what Biko WOULD have achieved, along with so many others lost, when the time came after 1990, then 1994. My deep respect and sincere respect for your post. Shame about the gremlin that's 'censoring' me. Bless Biko, & bless you.
"the greates tool of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed" -Stephen Biko
I remember your post last year for him. But for some reason I didn't wish Biko a happy birthday.
So I'll do it this year, Happy Birthday Biko.
Happy birthday Biko :-)
This was really, really good! Thanks for sharing .....
Truly a man worth celebrating.
On a related note, Donald Woods's birthday was last Friday.
Cry Freedom!! An awesome movie about Steve Biko, played by none other than the oh so talented, Denzel Washington! I saw that movie and was moved by Biko! He's definitely worth learning about!
Happy Birthday Steve Biko!
Happy Birthday Stephen Bantu Biko!! Long live the spirit of no surrender!!
Thanks for the reminder.
I know it was Hollywood but as a young teen watching Cry for Freedom further politicized my Pan African sensibilities.
Like Butterfly Jones I support Biko's mantra -- "I write what I like."
I am still not a fan of South Africans and Australians you know how many a dem mi haffi hook in London. Those people need to go back to where they come from if they wanna treat black people like dat!
Maybe am late bt thanx for the reminder..Biko's birthday is worthy remembering.............
I will do so, i'm making my rounds now, hope all is well
