Very Cool - I remember my friend working to help identify and catalog some of the remains back when we were in undergrad (she went to Howard). Thats exciting. I may have to add that to my East Coast excursion in March. Thanks for sharing.
Dance,
I want to see it too. I'm not sure when I'll be in NY again, but it's on my list. That's cool that your friend worked on that. I know one of the professors from American Univ who helped with that Howard project. It's a great honor for those African ancestors who perished under the system of slavery.
That is a wonderful tribute to all those African Americans who died, probably early painful deaths. :( If I ever get to the east coast, I will visit this memorial for sure!
Have a great weekend!
It says that this is inscribed therein:
“For all those who were lost
For all those who were stolen
For all those who were left behind
For all those who are not forgotten.”
Ntate, thank you for informing us. I think this venture is a huge milestone that shouldn't be forgotten.
