I'm in the middle of nothing but Uruguayan love. This is Berta Pereira and Pollo Píriz, a couple who records some of the most beautiful music that I've ever heard. This photo was taken in Canelones, Uruguay in November of 2011. I should have posted this long ago, but they fell on my heart tonight so I decided to post. Their music is heavily influenced by African and Latin rhythms blended with nature. That, by the way, is my interpretation, but I probably haven't scratched the surface. It's wonderfully complex and altogether beautiful. Listening to them is wonderful and listening to them LIVE is an experience. Thank you Berta Pollo for inviting me into your home and sharing your love, yerba mate, and beautiful music. Gracias!

Whoa. I already love music Latino-Afro-Caribbean music...and this is wonderful. Especially as the sun goes down.
Just think of all the music that's being produced everywhere in the world, beautiful sounds, not discovered by the 'big' producers!
GG, it truly is beautiful music - World music. They are so incredibly talented. Producers need to let the rest of the world hear.
Hi Stephen, fantastic blog! I've been enjoying browsing through all your snippets of African culture here. You post some brilliant music selections here too, I've been listening to Bella and Pollo, they're great!
I don't suppose you would be interested in sharing this over at Glipho? We're a new social blogging site, with an active, creative community- I know they would be very interested in your work here! Perhaps if you get a chance, you could take a quick look over at http://glipho.com and see if you like it, but don't worry if it's not for you! You can import posts over from here into Glipho too, so it's pretty simple to get up and started.
Thanks for your time, and the wonderfully entertaining blog. I look forward to reading more from you! Oh, and please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have!
All the best,
Teo
