Warm Thoughts: Summer of 1975

"Looking back on when I was a little nappy headed boy,
then my only worry was for Christmas, what would be my toy.
Even though we sometimes would not get a thing, we were happy with the joy the day would bring...I wish those days could come back once more, why did those days ever have to go?
I wish those days could come back once more, why did those days ever have to go? Cause I loved them so."
~ Stevie Wonder

By the way, I am the taller of the two little boys. I remember that day well. I also remember that the shirt I was wearing was new and my grandmother purchased some flip-flop sandles to keep my feet cool. It was the Bess Family Reunion in the Summer of '75. Stevie Wonder's hit song, I Wish, would not become a hit until 1977, but it was so appropriate for this photo. I mean, just look at that image of me, little Stevie; life was so simple then. Peace~

Man, this is great! I love the clothes - I remember that style, yes when things were simpler. Btw, what color were your flip flops?

Peace and joy~

You hadn't changed much, just a little taller, huh? How cute and those clothes remind me of ??? back in the days looking through my mama photo albums.

Now look at you, got me singing the Stevie Wonder ∫ I Wish.

Great tune, great lyrics. I love the photo. Man, those were the days.

I first heard "I wish" at a school party, and I remember falling in love with the music, the instrumental music, before even understanding what Stevie was saying.

I love the pic which is sooo 70s. It's great to be able to recapture the day with memories such as remembering that your grandma had brought you the t-shirt. I bet you were proud as punch :-)

I'm looking forward to seeing them.

Gotta love Stevie. He's the reason I don't mind that my family still calls me Stevie. :)

Rethabile-
Now that you understand the beat and the lyrics, I know that it is mind blowing. :)

Kawana-
I know...I'm getting old. :)

Zapped-
I was probably trying to coordinate with the colors too. :)

NML-
I was proud. I was very close to my grandmother. As a boy, I was sure that she knew God personally. I grew up and found out that it was true. :)

Hmm, I can recognize your face!

The clothes and hair are all *so* unmistakably '70's, it's hilarious and great!

I especially like uncle Mack's outfit. He is still just as flamboyant. :)
