Photography: DC Local Wildlife

Orinthology: Bebop
Northern Black Squirrel

If you live or work in the city then you know that squirrels can be very curious. They are not at all shy like their suburban or rural cousins. They will carefully approach when there is the possibilty that you have something to share with them. I had nothing but my camera. **smile**

Very Cute. Not too many Black squirrels here in MN. A few, and a few white ones, but mostly the Grey ones. They are all SO cute though. And I love it when they get like the city ones, and want to come close to us, but not too close... They are fun to watch! Nice Pic's!

NYC squirrels are no joke, they also are not at all shy, they'll grab any snacks from your hands

Yeah, it's just something about those city squirrels. They'll even straight "jack" you like regular city folk. :)

I have to say, those lean mean black squirrels bothered me a bit when I lived down there. I grew up on the New England variety - gray, fluffy... They seemed less... rodent-like.

Of course the real wildlife down there is on the roadways...

I always thought that squirrels are animals that exist in cartoon only until i saw so many of them in delhi five years ago. i guessed they came for celebrating the natioanl day but the next day came the terrible earth quake...

I hear that the animals are always the first to know about natural disasters. Well, enjoy your weekend and stay clear of any natural disasters.

hey stephen. just stopping through in between my morning tea break ... i saw some groovy soul brotha squirrels this morning as i walking to an early am yoga class. i imagine they were getting their breakfast on... your photo made me more aware of the soul brotha squirrels on 16th street. i guess you would call them gold coast squirrels. perhaps they are kin to gold coast squirrels in ghana. oops, do they have squirrels in ghana? i didn's see any the last time i was there. anyway have a great day. peace, ananda
ps: you should really turn this blog into a memoir ... it is liquid soul fluid words from the soul ...
