now--only that place where the books are kept."
John Steinbeck, novelist,Nobel laureate (1902-1968)
I am feeling this quote! Jean Toomer, American writer and thinker, also considered himself "locomotive." I've moved around quite a bit in my life as well, but I have finally settled down in one place. Really, I have. Besides, I have the bookshelf to prove it.

Glad you are finally settled, Stephen. There is something about a bookshelf that says 'home'. It's odd, I suppose. Once, last year, I bought a book of poetry by Langston Hughes and, as I walked back to my car from the book store, I felt as if Langston and I were walking hand in hand. Books are often tied to who we are, where we've been and what we feel. It's a beautiful thing, indeed.
Have a great day,
Bay
Bay,That's a nice image. :)
I went to this affair last night honoring Langston Hughes. He lived here in DC for a while and worked as a busboy and other odd jobs. I just bought a collection of Paul Laurence Dunbar's works. Those are two very interesting dudes. Thanks for stopping by.
Paul Lawrence Dunbar is one of my favs, too, I gotta say. His works are what first sparked my love for Negro poetry when I was just in elementary school. I am (originally) from Dayton, Ohio and I think we heard more about him there than a lot of other places might. Will there ever be any other poets like these guys???
Peace,
Bay
Yes, Bay...you.
