Happy Birthday to late, Gwendolyn Brooks, an excellent poet and extraordinary woman. I will always be inspired by her poetry. I recently shared one of my favorites, We Real Cool, with a group of college freshman. It was interesting to hear their interpretations. Again, Happy Birthday Ms. Brooks. At this moment, I am Jazzin’ June, but in a positive way. Thank you for your creative concern and poetic protest...

I can imagine how Gwendolyn Brooks is important for you, Stephen. Yesterday, on the 7th of June, Jorge Semprun, a writer very special for me, died. I read all his books.
I also frequently read poetry, but only a few that bring inspiration to me, I think the work of Gwendolyn Brooks also great!
There's always inspiration there!
Yeah! She real cool in the best way possible.
What a fascinating life. She had cool parents too.
It's nice to see a woman poet presented and such a powerful one at that. Love the woodcut, too!
Have a splendid weekend!
Cergie, I will look up Mr. Semprun. Thanks for sharing and always good to see you.
@Gus - thanks for your comment and welcome. Yes, Ms. Brooks was very talented. I love her work.
GG- Hey GG! Yes, nothing like supportive parents to help hone your talent.
GZ- I love the woodcut as well. I want to learn how to do it.
