Emma Faust Tillman

I’m sure that some of you have seen or heard the news about the oldest living person, Mrs. Emma Faust Tillman. She was born a plantation near Gibsonville, NC as the daughter of former slaves. She lived to be 114 years old. She held on to her title for only a week. She died quietly on Sunday night at a nursing home in Hartford, Connecticut. It’s time to rest, now. It’s time to go home. God rest her soul.

To imagine what she witnessed, endured those 114 years. Yes, she may now rest. Peace....

Wow!! So amazing!! I think it is such a true blessing to live to be that old. God truly blessed her with a long life! I recently talked to one of my aunts, she is 107 years old. I've never met her before, only talked to her on the phone. I admire people who live long, beautiful lives. I wish to be one of those people.

May Emma rest in peace...

Loved this post! It's a shame that we don't embrace our elders more. Emma Tillman possessed a lifetime a lessons. My grandmother turned 99 in December and I have learned more from her than from every other person in my life combined.

Do you mind if I tag it on my blog?

Amiamazing-
I can't imagine seeing so much history first hand.

N Woods-
I love talking to the older folks in the community. They are always a blessing. I don't mind the tag at all and good to see you.

The times she has witnessed, what a book she could have written. Amazing and indeed, time to rest in peace.

She has some good damn genes. I bet she had some stories to tell.

I am curious to know how many of her children/grand/g grands she has surviving her.

I read about her on Yahoo and didn't know she had died actually.
Thanks for this, Stephen.
She had my full admiration. In fact, Yahoo projected as a strong sprightly woman who was caring for someone else until a few months ago when she felt it was finally time to go into a nursing home. God bless her soul.

Yes, I saw her in the news. As a matter of fact, they said her brother who passed away last year was also over 100 years old. Wow, she lived a good life.

I can only imagine the things she has seen and heard during her lifetime. This was a woman I would have like to sit down and had a long conversation with.

Sad how she was in the news as being the oldest living and then dies a short time later. I think the oldest person I met who was still of right mind and healthy was a 102 year old patient at the nursing home I used to work at.

Rest in peace, Emma Tillman.

My mother taught me to appreciate the older folks, to listen to them...this might sound like a cliche, but there's so much to learn from them.
