The Jamaican [Pocomanians] do something like this too, move in circles, chanting.
Yes, although they are cousins, they were able to preserve more of their African heritage than we did here in the states. The Gullah culture of South and Carolina and Georgia was able to preserve more than anyone. Also, we never included ancestors in worship. We continue to honor them but no worship or prayers to ancestors.
