Rejoice

Dream Variations

To fling my arms wide
In some place of the sun,
To whirl and to dance
Till the white day is done.
Then rest at cool evening
Beneath a tall tree
While night comes on gently,
Dark like me-

That is my dream!
To fling my arms wide
In the face of the sun,
Dance! Whirl! Whirl!
Till the quick day is done.
Rest at pale evening...
A tall, slim tree...
Night coming tenderly
Black like me.

By: Langston Hughes

Today, I want to dedicate this poem to a dear friend of the Bess family. This poem came to mind soon after I heard of her passing around 3am this morning. She's no longer with us in the physical, but she is always in our hearts. Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice!! all the heavens. Your sister is coming home. We love you. MmmmmmmBBBbbbbaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

This is one of my favorite Langston Hughes poems. As I read the words to this poem, it resonates within my soul.

My sympathies for the lost of your friend! Rejoice is right!! She's going home to be with the Lord, and that is the best place she can be!

BTW...I checked out Mocha Hut's free open mic on Thursday night just to get a feel for the atmosphere and the poetry, and I LOVED it!! I can definitely see myself getting up there and performing some of my pieces. I'll let you know when that happens. I'm excited!!

=)

Never know what to say about death except that I'm against it. You say it better. Yes. Langston. Always Langston. Take care, bro. Amen.

Thank you all for your support and condolences. She is definitely in a better place now. She has been battling Cancer for a few years and now she can rest. I pray for her husband and 3 children who will have to move on without her in the physical. However, as Amiamazing mentioned she will be with them and all of us in spirit. Thanks again. Peace~
