Goals For The Month: Submit

"The truly creative mind in any field is no more than this:
A human creature born abnormally, inhumanly sensitive. To him... a touch is a blow, a sound
is a noise, a misfortune is a tragedy, a joy is an ecstasy, a friend is a
lover, a lover is a god, and failure is death. Add to this cruelly delicate
organism the overpowering necessity to create, create, create -- so that
without the creating of music or poetry or books or buildings or something
of meaning, his very breath is cut off from him. He must create, must pour
out creation. By some strange, unknown, inward urgency he is not really
alive unless he is creating."
-Pearl S. Buck, novelist, Nobel laureate
(1892-1973)

I love that quote! I know that there are many of you out there who feel this as artist, photographers, writers, etc. I know I do. It is the end of July and I am getting my submission ready to be sent by tomorrow. I know that tomorrow is August 1st, but better late than never. Be blessed and don't be afraid of your greatness. I know that you don't realize this at times, but you are far greater than you can ever imagine. May the Creator bless us all. Peace~

love the quote. very inspiring and it's so true -- for artistic types, it's like we couldn't stop ourselves from being creative even if we tried. it's innate -- a part of who we are -- just like the air we breathe and the blood running through our veins. I think if God has blessed you with the gift to be creative it's a sin against Him not to use and develop your gift. Good luck with the submission! Want to tell us a little more about it????

Yes, I agree. It would be a sin indeed. You're in good graces then because you are really doing your thing.

hey stephen. i agree with both you and michelle. we are called to create because we are creators made in the likeness of the Creator... Best wishes on your submission. Flow with your flow. Paz, Ananda

I also love the quote it hits the nail on the head. It rings true for us all. As I write this I am listening to Tom Waits' Mule Variation and the song Gome On Up To The House, and he sings 'well you know you should surrender but you can't let go'.

Thank you for the exclamations!! :) I also thank you for your blessings. I remember you telling me your hardships with getting published. As for a guardian angel...I'm going straight for the Master. Peace~

This is very apt for me to read today as I think I fear my 'greatness' so I just let myself get dragged along with the status quo. I strive a certain amount but fall short of taking the one step I need to.

Yes, there is far more in us than we realize. I'm sure that you've been told this by people that know and love you. We often write off by saying, 'oh...you're supposed to say that because you love me.' The fact is that they can see your greatness right before their eyes, but you look in the mirror and you just see NML. I hope that you enjoyed your birthday!

Oh, who am I talking to...of course you enjoyed it. :)

Michelle said...

@ nml -- there is a fine line between fear of success and fear of failure. Never give in to the status quo - don't limit yourself to what you already know. Keep wanting and striving but along with that don't be afraid to take necessary steps! One of my favorite quotes from Iyanla Vanzant is: Move toward your wildest dream, take the labels off of your mind and step boldly into your greatness! Hopefully that will inspire you!

Easy for me to say, huh? Maybe I should follow my own advice - HEE!

@ SB -- Okay, I'm done hijacking your blog. I am putting myself on a self-imposed moratorium from your spot! (at least for the next 10 minutes) :-) Peace...

I love this quote, Stephen! Thanks for posting it, I've never read this before.

As a poet, thats exactly how I feel. Poetry is like breathing. Its something I can't live without doing. I can't imagine what I would do if I couldn't write because its so deeply embedded into who I am. =)

Pearl Buck is a favorite author of my youth. I had strange favorites as a young child. As for you, I'm convinced that you will leave your mark.
