do you know...i've never seen one of these? (then again, i've only been down south once, and that was when i was 5!).

lol :) Yeah, you can't get more Southern United States than Piggly Wiggly.

They tried them up North here, but they did not go over. I just remember when I was a kid going to the Piggly Wiggly. It always made me laugh to say Piggly Wiggly. But they were not around long. Plus when I was a kid I liked the pig in the picture, it made me think of the pig from the Bugs Bunny Cartoons, his name currently escapes me. I think the Piggly Wiggly must have been too Southern for us Minnesotans.

You are speaking of Mr. Porky Pig. :) Yes, there is a striking resemblance. That's interesting though. I never knew that it was anywhere else but in the south.

Is there a hidden message behind the pig, and wig?? bwha aaaa What sentiment is associated with this? Is this saying something about the South, if yes, what????

This is a Stephen Bess-extraordinaire :)

You can tell I am not a native huh!!??

This all went right over my head, but Americans sure have some funny names for stuff!

This is so true! My sister and I were just talking about how Winn Dixie and Harris Teeter are pretty bad, but not nearly as nauseating as Piggly Wiggly. Ahhhh...the South. Looking forward to calling it my former home.

The Pig is cool. I just go there for a special cornmeal that can only be bought in that particular region. It's fantastic!

Haa Haa! I have no hate for Piggly Wiggly. The flag is another story, but what can you do when it's the state flag? Protest! We snatched ours down during a demonstration on Savannah State's campus.

nml-
Yeah, it's a southern US thang. :)It is a funny name, huh.

ka-
Yes, you don't realize what you're missing until you go into Publix or stores in the affluent sections of town.

sej-
Yes, the Pig still rules in Martin Co. North Carolina. :)

I LOVE Publix. Darn NC has not a one. I had to spend a the summer in Alabama last year, and Publix alone made life so much more bearable!
